All the above details are courtesy of the BKK newsletter. Gravesend Summer Grandslam The Gravesend Summer Grandslam, held on Saturday 12th July 2002 in Gravesend town centre, was a great success. The Gravesend Kyokushin Demonstration was in a class of it's own thanks to the hard work and professionalism of all those involved at every level. Both demos drew what were quite possibly the biggest audiences of the day, and the enthusiasm and support from the crowd spoke volumes about the quality of the karate-ka taking part in the demo, and the preparation and thought that had been put in. As is usual for public demonstrations, things did not go 100% to plan, breaking materials (wood and baseball bats in particular!) can be highly unpredictable, and nerves can hit anybody, but this only adds to the effect of obvious authenticity of the demo itself. The karate-ka of Gravesend Dojo can certainly feel they've been good ambassadors for Kyokushin and martial arts as a whole. Well done all! To view the Grandslam Photo gallery... Click here! |
