In 1994/95 we were living in a duplex with a hedge surrounding the front yard. This was perfect for the graveyard. With the help of our neighbors in the duplex, we turned both the front and back yards into a scary tour.

1996

 In 1996 we had moved out of the duplex and into a house. We no longer had the hedge, but had a bigger area in which to haunt. This was the first year for the mad doctor and his brain sucking machine (a real hit with the kids). We also invited a local news station to broadcast from the haunt. This attracted the attention of the neighbors, heads popped out from houses all along the street when the news broadcast the address. We had a lot of trick-o-treaters that year.

1998

Halloween 1998 became so hectic, with buying a new house and the subsequent move from the old place, that we forgot to take any pictures. This haunt was more elaborate than the previous haunts at this location. We had more corridors, more monsters, and more effects, including an electric chair.

1999

Halloween 1999 went better than previous years, with a much larger and more elaborate haunt. This was the first haunt at the new house. This was also the first year we themed the haunt.

These are some pre production plans and sketches of the haunt.
Here are some shots of the castle facade under construction. Nikki Goudy paints the rocks onto the flats. While Nikki is painting one flat, Brian Schwatka and Tom "Lurch" Winter construct another.
Here is the sixteen-foot tall tower to the castle entrance. It was assembled horizontally and then hoisted into position. Center is the sign over the entrance. To the left is the entrance to the haunt which led into the wizard's chamber.
After visiting the wizard and his collection of brains, the audience would have to transverse the "tunnel of terror". They would then be confronted by the dragon and his victims. 
The magic fairy garden. Visitors were so entranced that the troll which came up from behind them was a screaming shock. Right, This is the entrance to the witch's hut. She loved children...baked.
Out in front of the house we had the graveyard and, of course, pumpkins.
