| Committee Charge: The Youth Development Committee of the Gratiot Collaborative Council shall work to develop and implement effective programs for the youth of Gratiot County. I. Assimilation of information from: Gratiot County Health Departmentt Public and Private schools and colleges Nonprofit corporations such as Human Aid, 4 C, etc. Gratiot County Community Mental Health Gratiot County Strategic Plan with special interest in the Youth Development Committee Any other resources available throughout the State of Michigan and nationally II. Selected youth issues for development: Communications - Establish a county-wide communications network which will facilitate youth development throughout the county. - develop and initiate a county web page which links all services and programs for easier end-user operation. Provide county-wide access of information included in existing media by placing the information on-line. - Investigate the establishment of a 2-1-1 system in Gratiot County to provide warm-line link to all human service agencies and Gratiot citizens. - Obtain media awareness of community issues regarding substance abuse Provide after school alternative to day-care for middle school children in each community. - Investigate the establishment of Boys-Girls clubs. - Investigate the availability of transportation funding through MDOT for these activities � Explore programs in other communities where collaborative efforts have produced youth oriented programs. Membership: The committee shall consist of three to five persons appointed by the Gratiot Collaborative Council as well as other interested people from the community. The term of office shall be for one year which may be extended. The committee shall appoint a chair for each one year term. The chair will report committee progress to the GCC. Staff: The Prevention Coordinator shall provide support to the Youth Development Committee: Developing and maintaining membership list Monthly mailing Monitoring attendance |
