Tulip Painting stolen from Taco Time
Rita's art display at Taco Time in Abbotsford
When Rita Carrington discovered that there was an opportunity of showing her art to the publicat a local restarurant, she was ecstatic.  An article about Rita and her art was printed in the Abbotsford News in the February 12, 2005 edition.  The article included photograph's of Rita and her art and stated that Rita's art would be exhibited at Taco Time in Abbotsford for the month of February.  The show was extended an extra month to the end of March, however, at the conclusion of the show, Rita was dismayed to learn that one of her paintings had gone missing and was apparently stolen.  This painting has special significance to Rita and was one of her favourites.  "The thief has broken my heart, but not my spirit", Rita said.  She is determined to continue to paint and to exhibit her art, but is now cautious about security.

It is difficult to understand the psychology of a person who would steal a painting.  What do you do with a stolen painting?  Give it as a gift to a family member, a wedding present or sell it for money?  Stolen painitngs are difficult to keep because they are easily recognizable and their size makes them awkward to hide.  They are also difficult to give away or sell for the same reasons.  It is a lot easier not to have stolen the painting in the first place.

If anyone reading this, has information about a watercolour pianting of a tulip, red on a dark background, please report it to the Abbotsford Police.  If you have the painting and wish to return it, you may bring it anonymously to the Clearbrook Library and pass it to the Watercolour Society whose artists are presently displaying art there.  Take a close look at the photograph of Rita and her painting.  If you recognize the painitng, please report it.
