Summer Seemed Longer
When I was Seven or maybe Eight
I'd play outside until very late
The day's were never ending - It always felt hot
The Summer seemed longer, as time was forgot

My brand new swing was THE best thing
I wouldn't get off, believing I could fly!
As I urged my legs on harder, getting high upon high!
When Dad cut the lawn - on my swing I'd still sit
We'd play dodge and weave and he'd almost get hit!

Dad built me a house, a house just for me!
Where I'd have lots of parties and Invite Mum for tea
We'd drink Orange squash and eat cardboard rolls
Just me , my Mum and all of my dolls!

I had a repore with the lady next door
And we'd chat over the hedge about all kinds of stuff
Only darkness would stop us, we couldn't talk enough!
We'd be laughing and joking, Dad would sometimes sing!
Then we'd here Mum call, "arn't you Two coming in?"

I'd listen to the Radio all Summer long
And always sing along to that Donny Osmond song!
Some days I'd go out front, and play with my mates
We'd push dolls in prams or whizz around on skates!
It hardly ever rained, we'll that's how it seemed to me
But even if it did we'd just shelter beneath a tree!

When it got too hot, we'd sit around being lazy
I called Dad Buttercup because he called me Daisy!
When all hot and bothererd, I'sd splash in some water
That was Mum, and my Dad, and me Sani, their daughter!
