When a palamino colt is born on the farm, David is instantly taken in by the little golden-colored colt, and christens him Riviera Sunshine. David is sure that the colt is "The One" who will win Holleyhock the Triple Crown.
But David's dreams and plans are interrupted by severe fatigue, and a complete breakdown. Will David have to sacrifice his dreams to save his health?
But being the colt's groom just isn't enough for David. He is determined to achieve his dreams, no matter how much it rains on his life, and so he hatches a plan to get himself into Sunny's saddle on Hopeful Stakes race-day. But will going for his dreams cost David his life?
But naturally David's health refuses to co-operate with him, and he finds himself increasingly fatigued again. He is forced to take a break, and is unable to ride Sunny in his prep races.
In between the races and sleeping, David is also fighting to win the heart of his best friend, Courtney. Their friendship has blossomed into something more, and David is not willing to give it up.
Will David be able to win Courtney's heart and the Triple Crown, or will he have to sacrifice one to achieve the other?
