THE EYE KNOWS

If you read my last commentary you will see my pick for October surprise. I couldn't have been more wrong. The real surprise is the tank. The tank I refer to is the bailout of the economy. That is the surprise and that will be the nemesis for a long time to come. For the GOP Eye? The GOP is in big trouble? Yes, but not only the GOP, but the entire populace outside the elite beltway and liberal politicians. This will be the first of many bailouts and nationalization of private industry. The real loss is America.

Lipstick on my collar

You see the debates? I was confused all afternoon after seeing them. I toggled through the news sites to see who won the debate. Looking at the media sites online voting as to who won, I was sort of depressed. Of course, other than Drudge, Biden supposedly was the shining star.

I seriously searched for the results, I could only find comments like, Palin didn't make any gaffes and she looked "folksy". Palin has been a drag on McCain, but she did ok and didn't kill him. Sort of depressing stuff, however by the time I went to bed I came to the realization as to what is going on. Even Stephanapulgus said she got an A or A- on her performance, but of course, lost handily to Biden. It then hit me, she totally must have kicked his ass big time. If she would have stumbled or if Biden would have been a giant, the news sites would have been alight with all types of glowing reviews on Biden. Even though these sites' voter polls showed him winning 70/30 you could hardly find them on the web sites. That told me it was no contest -- Palin! The stories show it today.

Has Sarah Palin become a problem?; October 3, 2008; CNNpolitics.com
Ever wonder who CNN favors?
In the wild swings of U.S. markets and politics, John McCain's running mate was almost overlooked. That's lucky because Palin has a problem.

The problem is that candidates have to speak; not just in prepared speeches and advertisements, but unscripted and on their own. And Palin hasn't been doing a good job of it. Truth is, she's hardly been doing it at all.
If you had any doubts it is on display in this article.
As you read this, Americans will have just seen her debate against Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden -- her biggest unassisted outing yet.

Watch for the reaction. Before the debate, the McCain campaign was very nervous about letting Palin speak her mind near anyone with a camera, microphone or a notebook.
I didn't see the debate, however she must have been fabulous or CNN wouldn't be out trashcompacting her so virulently today.
By CNN's count, Biden has done nearly 100 interviews as Obama's running mate. Palin has done three. And they haven't gone well.
They don't report the mass media doesn't want her on TV because they are afraid of her and afraid of exposing her to the American public because they know she will be an absolute magnet for voters.
In one, she claimed foreign policy experience because she's the governor of Alaska and "you can actually see Russia" from one part of the state.

In another, she couldn't or wouldn't name a single magazine or newspaper that she reads.
No one else reads them either. Tell me, who reads the NY Times or Washington Post or LA Times? They are losing subscribers big time. Also, if you can tell me who reads them, can you tell me if they believe them?
But the explanation may be simpler. She's new. New, unconventional and defying expectations. Or new, inexperienced and unqualified. Americans are making up their minds.
She's really new and she connects. By the way, tell me who watches CNN. Tell me both of them.

You gotta love this clown

I didn't expect anyone to outdo CNN in an effort to destroy someone, but I stand corrected again.
From the Yahoo! Newsroom; Oct 3, 2008; by Mike Krumboltz
Here is Yahoo's answer to Bill Mahr.
After Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric, many predicted her debate with Senator Joe Biden would be another "moose in the headlights" train wreck. That wasn't the case. The Alaska governor held her own and had a clear command of the facts. But was she good enough to win?
That comment speaks volumes. This jerk was forced to admit it that Palin "held her own". After reading the rest of this, you will come to realize that holding your own here is mopping the floor with Biden, Obama, and that stupid moderator who has an Obama book coming out on Innauguration day.
Clearly, voters want to know. After the debate, searches spiked on "who won the vice presidential debate" and "who is the vp debate winner." The Buzz contains a slew of analysis pieces on who came out on top, but like everything else in politics, the answer depends on who you ask.
And just who does Dumboltz here ask?
CNN conducted a national poll and found that Senator Biden won, but that Gov. Palin "exceeded expectations." CNN also found that Palin topped Biden on likability, but Biden was viewed to be more qualified for the job.

Politico acknowledges that Palin escaped a "demolition derby moment," but claimed Biden was still the clear winner. "The financial meltdown has put a new premium on competence, and Palin did nothing to show she is ready to be in charge." Still, Palin's "folksy charm" was, for the most part, well received, and on occasion came with a "sharp edge."

Similar analysis can be found at Time.com. Joe Klein writes that while Sarah Palin "did fine," Joe Biden "demonstrated a real knowledge of the issues." Biden, in Klein's opinion, also had the most memorable moment of the debate when he spoke about his wife's death and what it was like to be a single parent. That moment, according to Klein, "was more real than anything Palin said all night."
He asks, CNN, Politico, and Time. Too bad Karl Marx is dead or he would have been quoted. By the way, the "tears" helped Broom Hillary, so I guess it was time to show some genuine humility.

BUT, the real clincher in this entire piece of Yahoo trash is this.
Still, Ms. Palin's "you betcha" phrases drew a tremendous amount of search interest. In referencing the average American, she used the phrase "Joe Sixpack." The term immediately shot up in Search ("Hockey Mom" is so last month). Palin also referred to John McCain as "the maverick" several times. For viewers, this clearly inspired memories of one of Tom Cruise's greatest hits. That's right, lookups on "top gun maverick" went supersonic. Finally, Palin's mispronunciation of the word "nuclear" drew an atomic level of searches for "nuclear vs. nucular." Remember: when in doubt, just sound it out.
You have to wonder what the Google search numbers were as well (insert knife and twist). The reference here on nuclear is to tie Palin to Bush, something they have been trying to do all along. However, I do have one question for Mr. Dumboltz. Are you going to wonder how it is pronounced when one is zooming in on your head? Odumbo wants to open up dialog with Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and Castro with no pre-conditions. You might want to check the pronunciation of these names, cause these are the ones who will be shooting those "nucular" things at you.

Point, Set, and Match for SARAH PALIN!! She certainly wowed the highest rated viewership of any debate ever. For your information on Yahoo searches for Oct 3....
