Whatever you do, don't believe everything you read. There will be all kinds of stories making all kinds of claims and laying all sorts of lies. Let's look at the first of many to come.
No Wonder They're Losing Credibility
Polls, especially push polls, will abound from now till November.
Obama Has 15-Point Lead as Voters Reject Republicans; By Heidi Przybyla; Bloomberg.comNews; Jun 25, 2008
Let's look at Bloomberg's claim about B. Hussein Obama.
Democrat Barack Obama has opened a 15-point lead in the presidential race, and most of the political trends -- voter enthusiasm, views of President George W. Bush, the Republicans, the economy and the direction of the country -- point to even greater trouble for rival John McCain.
The media moguls want to keep Bush in the picture because they want people to think Obama is running against Bush. They are making a mistake here. Bush is not disliked as much as they think.
Illinois Senator Obama, winning support from once skeptical women and Democrats, beats McCain 48 percent to 33 percent in a four-way race, a Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll shows. Independent candidates Bob Barr and Ralph Nader get 7 percent combined, with the remainder undecided.
Just looking at this on the surface, I find it a bit strange. Look at the Nader number. Seven percent is substantial. Idiots who support Nader are huge leftist Democraps. Theoretically if you take Nader out of the picture and the 7% to Odumbo, then you have him at 55%.
The poll shows that the third-party candidacies of Barr and Nader, who political experts say likely will be on the ballot in most states, are hurting Arizona Senator McCain slightly more than Obama. In a two-way race, Obama's lead over the presumptive Republican nominee narrows to 12 points.
That comment pretty well shoots my theory, but.....
Voters continue to view McCain, 71, as the more experienced candidate and trust him to fight the war on terror. Obama, 46, has the edge on most other matters, according to the poll of 1,115 registered voters, taken June 19 to 23. The survey has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
.... frankly, if the media agreed with me, I'd be worried.
Gallup Daily: Obama, McCain Tied at 45%; June 25, 2008
This headline shoots down the Bloomberg/LATimes poll. Doesn't it?
Would the most qualified please step forward!
Last week I mentioned that Newsweak went to great lengths on an article to back B. Hussein Obama. Well, that was nothing compared to the next story from the AP.
Ret. Gen. Clark: McCain lacks command experience; Jun 30, 2008; AP/Yahoo.com
Looks like they've gone even further this week. Read on, but promise me you won't laugh.
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, a former Democratic presidential candidate now supporting Barack Obama, said Sunday John McCain's military service does not automatically qualify him to be commander in chief.
Is Odumbo qualified with service?
Underscoring during a national television appearance a position he has been expressing for several weeks, Clark said performing heroic military service is not a substitute for gaining command experience.
Is orgainizing Chicago communities gaining command experience?
"In the matters of national security policy making, it's a matter of understanding risk," he said on CBS' "Face the Nation." "It's a matter of gauging your opponents and it's a matter of being held accountable. John McCain's never done any of that in his official positions. I certainly honor his service as a prisoner of war. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in the armed forces, as a prisoner of war.
This begs the question of Odumbo's command experience.
"He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee and he has traveled all over the world, but he hasn't held executive responsibility," Clark said. "That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded - that wasn't a wartime squadron."
Ahh,Clarky baby, can you delineate Mr. Obama's experience for me? Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot he has all that experience speaking to his former Weathermen terrorist friends. Now that is executive responsibilty in wartime (rolling eyes).
I am scared now!
Fear mongering is a staple of the mass media. This story is incredible.
It seems unthinkable, but for the first time in human history, ice is on course to disappear entirely from the North Pole this year.
Makes you want to puke, doesn't it? As incredibly stupid as the claim is, they can't possibly claim to know world events going back thru all of human history.
The disappearance of the Arctic sea ice, making it possible to reach the Pole sailing in a boat through open water, would be one of the most dramatic - and worrying - examples of the impact of global warming on the planet. Scientists say the ice at 90 degrees north may well have melted away by the summer.
Anyone for junk science? "May" melt away by summer? May? Well "maybe" not. If it doesn't then you won't see any follow up story with banner headlines that North Pole ice still intact.
If it happens, it raises the prospect of the Arctic nations being able to exploit the valuable oil and mineral deposits below these a bed which have until now been impossible to extract because of the thick sea ice above.
Isn't that a good thing? Guess not for the Western world. However the Russians and Chinese are claiming oil rights in the area.
But the untold story is "why is the ice melting"? Note they are not mentioning the underwater volcanic activity in the area. I guess that has nothing to do with raising water temperatures.
