release 2

(vtest v0r2u0)

---]
What is vtest?

vtest is a derivative of m6,
m6 is a m5-based set of mini projects.

vtest is m-spawn. m-spawn includes all mini-projects which
embody the m initiative. the m init is this : to prepare myself
to do C99.

---]
What does vtest do?

vtest tests the video routines, that is, the routines in
rendlib. It's more of an internal testing tool than something
done for public release, but it is here if you wish to take a
look-see.

In other words, vtest just sits here and looks pretty.

---:
Status of the kode

rendlib right now is broken, it works but it doesn't handle sprites,
except in an extremely kludgy manner. Also, half of the code is obsolete
or unused. I'll address these issues in time, but for now, I'll ignore
them and work on variables and stuff... i.e. the NASIC parser, and
related ...technologies...

Besides, I won't be using sprites for a while, my first milestone will
be getting Island Of Secrets to run in my imm.

---]
Copyrights etc.

C64.Sp2 is a sprite created by Chip, althoguh it bears some vague resemblence
to a logo whcih we are fond of, it's his own creation, not mine, and he
owns the copyright, if any exists. (I'm largely ignorant and irrespectful
of copyright law.)

CHAR.ROM is a dump of the C64's CHARacter GENerator ROM. I'm uncertain as to
exactly who owns the name Commodore, but considering how bankrupt Commodore
Business Machines is, and that the only reason you'd be interested in C99
if if you already owned a C64 and thus this file (albeit in another format),
I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I know I don't give it a second
thought.

reandlib.h is (C)1999 Keinall "Lord Granitor" Caddle (that's me), and so
is rendlib.c, rendlib.o, and some other stuff.

vtest.exe is compiled with PGCC, and uses Allegro 3.1, both of which are
basically free... see the PGCC page, the DJGPP page, and the Allegro
pages for details. I'll include URLs in v2 or soemthing.

I expressly forbid the use of vtest.exe, rendlib, or anything else I've coded
in anything commercial, or for commercial purposes, without my permission.

I also do not guarentee or warranty vtest.exe, rendlib, or even this
text file. All may cause serious permanent damage, use at your own
risk.

N.B.: This text file features druggle, which has not been proven to be
y0k compliant, nor has it been tested on animals or users of Windows NT.
If you rely on y0k complance, or are currently using Windows NT, please
be aware that there exist NO GUARENTEE WHATSOEVER, not even deceptive
marketing to this end, that your platform will survive the methaphorical
trampling of elephants that druggle may produce under certain unresearched
circumstances!

Roadmap

Okay, so I'm not gonna be working on the horribly rendlib. what will I be
working on? NASIC and BASIC2. You see, I have this book which has a program
called Island of Secrets in it. It doesn't belong to me, I've been lent it
for the expresed purpose of porting it to PC. Because I don't want to use
QuickBasic / QBasic, and since I'm doing a C64imm anyways, I'm gonna carry
the imm to the level needed to run this program which uses simple text mode
graphics.. tape access to save the game... and is somewhat obfuscated.

So, vtest doesn't fit into the Grand Scheme of Things(tm). It's a tangent,
hardly worth considering for now.

Hails:

Master Chip , Sir Nelish, Lord TWood, Lord "isyafhayr" Pennegan.

May the kode be with you,
and do not be concerned.

---:

This little demo is crap,
yes, but it looks pretty,
and gives food for thought.

---:

And it came to pass, that m came,
but no-one beheld this m,
but , rather, the spawn of m,
named vtest and mness and mism...
and varied are the spawn of m,
in name and in featureset.

And there arose a surfer,
with a need to partake of the spawn of m,
but find it he could not,
until he endered the Geocity,
and walked upon a sea of, as it were,
sand heated by great heat, as the sun,
and he ventured into the Valley,
until he found the Lakes of Silicon,
wherin he met a man who knew the orgin of m,

And it came to pass,
that the surfer asked of the man,
"where canst I fineth m?"

And the man who knew (for he was ancient in age)
arose, and fixed his girdle, and spake:
"Bartex I hate, and also Fruit of the Loom.
Behold! The m hath spawned many,
but there was and is only one,
know Ye the meaning of this saying,
surfer?"

The surfer pondered, but discerned it not.

:

Seeing this, the man who knew,
ancient in age and filled with knowledge,
became very wroth,
and his contenance plumeted with such vigor
that nigh a neo was left in his Neo-Geo,
and his Samauri Showdown 4 failed.

"Alas!" said he,
"Thine presence hath destroyed mine game!
prepareth to No Contest'd!"

But the surfer knew not of the bad English
of SS4, and thus, became even more wildered
with be, and grunted with dis,
and in his new pants, he did pis.

:

In a flash of fahion,
and style, and flair,
the man drew a sword,
and was going to bear

it down on the skull,
of the ignorant surfer,
when just then, he realise,
the full URL

was http (the transport, you see),
a colon, and two forwad slashes,
www dot geocities dot com, another
seperating slash, leaned (though
he knew it not) in the maner of a UNIX
sub-dir serperator thingy!

and then came Silicon Valley, one word,
without space, the capitialization important,
as well!

and the / and then Lakes, and
Lo! Behold this!

he noticed a number, four digits in length,
engraved on the blade of the sword of the man
who he angered, whilst innocently asking
for directions!

two! six! five! eight!
now, isn't that great?
and another fine /
for good measure,

and just as he felt,
the blade parting
his short neat-cut hair,
he realise theew was 'm', and then '1'!
and then a dot, and, he dare not forget,
the 'h', 't', and 'm', sans 'l' this time---

why? why, oh why, it there no 'l'?

he thought, as the blade splat
and splitted and severed his skull,
and he died just for asking
a question.

are you still carrying her?
