Empty1 ReadMe

Usage:

Extract the files in the zip into their own directory,
hopefully I remembered to package them into "empty1"
folder.

Then start "empty.exe" by double-click or whatever.

The program should start, and display a greeting.

While the program has focus, you can move the
"greeting card" by using the arrow keys.

Details:

The response time is rather sluggish,
as the screen is only updated at 2 frames per second.
Which is about 12 times as slow as a normal movie
in the cinema, or 30 times as slow as a progressive TV,
or up to 50 times as slow as a very fast videogame running
on a PC or other variable refresh rate monitor.

There is no technical reason for the sluggishness;
consider it a design flaw as I was just experimenting,
not having learnt much about SDL yet so I followed
a tutorial which actually had no movement (animation)
and hence, such a low refresh rate (it's basically just
in case we need to exit the program that it bothers
to update at all, I guess).

The "greeting card" will return to the origional position
if you release all keys and wait. However, there seems to
be a bit of jitter probally due to a flaw in the design
which causes it to bounce about a bit. I'm not sure about
it but I really don't care, as I learn more I'll design
a properly interactive application.

For now, be impressed by my interactive "Hello, World" and
its pragmatic imperfection.
