Sure, they're tough. Sure, they can kill you in a snap. Sure, you can kill them. It's easy (with this guide not made by me.) Defeating Emerald Weapon without dying and Ruby Weapon with all characters living at the end. (Please read fully before attempting). This is your guide to easily defeating the two hardest creatures in the American version of Final Fantasy 7 with an extra-added bonus. Defeating Emerald Weapon does not require the Underwater Materia or dying and defeating Ruby Weapon doesnt require only one character living at the end of the battle. So you can make the most of the 50,000ap that is given for each after battle. I accomplished this on the second CD and at the level of 81 83. Emerald and Ruby respectively. You can do it anytime. Here it is: Defeating Emerald Weapon: (The characters and weapons I have chosen in no way are required to complete this battle; I have chosen them solely on the basis of their materia growth). (If any materia slots were left open, fill with what you want). Required materia: Cloud Crystal Sword Quadra Magic + KotR (Knights of the Round), Revive, Pre-emptive, Magic Plus. Rune armlet W-Summon, Mime, HP Plus, MP Plus Sprint Shoes Vincent Outsider Magic Plus, Pre-emptive, Mime, HP Plus, MP Plus Wizard Bracelet (any materia) Sprint Shoes Cid Venus Gospel or Scimitar (any materia) Wizard Bracelet HP Plus, MP Plus, Speed Plus, Pre-emptive, Mime Earring or Sprint Shoes (Recommend Sprint Shoes) The battle NOTE: arrange your items so that you have an X-Potion or an elixir ready. If Emerald gets off The first shot, use it from Vincent or Cid to heal the wounded. Cloud must immediately follow With the first W-Summoning of KotR and Cid and Vincent are to Mime it. You must be very fast on the buttons to get this to work. As soon as the turn comes up and you have the opportunity To Mime, do it or Emerald will get in an extra shot. Cloud hits for about 7500-8000 points of damage using KotR. Vincent hits for 7500-8000 points of damage using KotR. Cid hits for 6000-7000 points of damage using KotR. When the fight starts, immediately have the elixir or the X-Potion thrown by Vincent or Cid to the wounded then go right to Cloud for the W-Summon KotR (use the R1 button to get to the spell faster). Immediately Mime it with Cid and Vincent and before Cloud begins casting, Cid and Vincent should have already logged in the Mime commands before Cloud begins casting. From then on, have your finger on the button ready to Mime the spells. You will have precious time between castings to execute the command. If by chance Emerald gets in an unexpected shot use a mega-elixir from Cid or Vincent to heal the wounds. You can only do this if KotR has 2 stars. Then begin the W-Summon process again. Here is the ideal situation. Fight begins; Emerald hits you, use X-Potion or elixir. Cloud W-Summons KotR. Then the other two characters Mime (all before Cloud starts the casting). This will go through 6 castings of KotR before Emerald strikes back. It should only take 4 more castings of KotR (2 Mimes) to defeat Emerald. All in 14 minutes, well under the 20 minutes allotted time. This may seem pretty simple but it may take a few times for it to get it down. Defeating Ruby Weapon with all character standing at the end of the battle. Defeating Ruby weapon is a bit easier. You will have to do it twice, but you will have all three characters standing and that will do wonders to your materia growth. After defeating Diamond and Ultimate Weapon, Ruby Weapon appears in the desert around the Gold Saucer (if you want to fight him right after you kill Ultimate Weapon, you will have to save and restart). If you have just defeated Emerald Weapon, travel to Nibelheim and trade the Earth Harp for the 3 Master Materias. When you are ready, fly into him. Here is what you need: Required materia: Cloud Crystal Sword HP Absorb + KotR, (Final Attack + Revive is useful) Phoenix, Speed Plus Rune armlet W-Summon, Mime, HP Plus, MP Plus Sprint Shoes Vincent Outsider (any materia you need leveling) Wizard Bracelet (any materia + HP < -- > MP) (anything) Cid Venus Gospel or Scimitar (load down with summon materia) Wizard Bracelet or Rune Armlet (load down with summon materia) (anything) The battle Begin the fight by letting Cid and Vincent die. Rubys big swing should take care of that. That way, they will be out of the battle, but not out of the fight. Use an X-Potion to heal yourself. This will prompt Ruby to stick his arms in the sand. W-Summon KotR first at the tentacles, then at the body of Ruby. Ruby will retaliate with Ultima or Comet2, neither of which will kill you. Only Shadow Flare kills you and that is when you need the Final Attack + Revive combination. The first time you fight Ruby Weapon, you will need to count the number of KotR it takes to kill Ruby. (Be sure not to count the times you hit the tentacles). Dont worry about Cid and Vincent now. Cloud hits for 7500 each time by KotR. (At least mine does). With the number of times counted, begin the fight again. This time Cid and Vincent will be standing at the end. Again let Cid and Vincent die and proceed as normal. What would be your final mime, needs to be replaced with a W-Summon casting of Phoenix and KotR. This will bring your characters back to life then will kill Ruby. Say for example, it took you 9 castings of KotR to kill Ruby Weapon. (Remember its casting on the body, not the tentacles). So after the 8th casting, you should W-Summon Phoenix and KotR in that order. (You dont want to cast KotR and kill him before you cast Phoenix and bring your friends back to life). It helps to be quick on the buttons in getting the W-Summon Phoenix and KotR off. Ruby may get 2 Big Swings off in that time drastically reducing your HP. Another way Secrets
