Funeral Rites for Respected
Funeral services for Eugene E. Howe, 87, respected retired pioneer farmer of Howell were held Wednesday afternoon, January 15th, 1936 at 2:30 from the Walnut street M. E. church, Rev. George Curts, pastor of the church officiating with burial in Lakeview cemetery. Mr. Howe was stricken suddenly about 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. He had been in apparently good health and attended church twice Sunday. Pioneer Farmer of Upright Principles
The deceased leaves to mourn their loss besides his bereaved wife, three daughters, Mrs. Charles White, and Mrs. Tracy Crandall both of Howell township and Alice Howe, a teacher in the public schools of Bay City Michigan. One brother, George F. Howe, of Howell now in Florida, and two sisters Alice C. Howe and Mrs. Ida L. Abrams both of Santiago Calif., five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Howe came of a generation that contributed much to the betterment of Livingston county. A stalwart disciple of honesty and integrity, too much can not be said of his influence and work. He has been a member of the Walnut street Methodist church for over a half century. He held with credit many many civil offices of trust and responsibility. He was a charter member of the Howell Farmer's Club, the organization being founded in his home. He was also a member of Howell Lodge No. 38 F. and A. M. At the time of his death he was an active member of the Howell City Park Commission. He loved trees and found his greatest pleasures in life in working with his plants and trees. He was always busy doing constructive work for himself and community, such as building houses, and developing various plats and subdivisions. Throughout his alloted span of life Mr. Howe's influence has been ever on the side of righteousness.
