A Nation Reborn

A world watched in horror

as hatred reigned.

It came without warning,

a message in flames.

Rocking the world

with terror and awe,

we watched grief-stricken

at the sight that we saw.

Consumed in just moments,

many lives, many dreams,

drowned now by sorrow

and anguish and screams.

We stood for a moment,

stunned by the sight

unable to grasp what foe we must fight

Then out of the ashes

and the yet burning flame,

sprang the phoenix of courage,

of mercy, humane.

America stood,

Reaching out - clasping hands and with her,

her friends from every land.

We bowed together

together we mourned.

Though many lives given,

new heroes were born

The plan of terror

was foiled that day

as nations united to wipe it away.

While the ashes still smolder

While the grief lingers on,

New anthems are written.

New hope marches on.

Turning to God

for solace and strength

a nation united

now stands on the brink

of a chapter unwritten

in history's tome

America stands

to defend freedom's home.
