How Small Am I

How small am I, I wonder

While as an ant I walk

In the wonders of God’s own

Creation.

I raise my arms and shout, yet

Am small, yet so thankful

Just to be.

Whether a part of God’s greatness

Or a bit of dust at His feet.

I feel proud, but should be

Humble.

I am proud as I look with awe

At God’s many wonderful works.

I am proud, yet feel so humble

When I see His greatness

And wonder that He sees me at all

Yet He does sees me, for He created me

If I could shout as the wind, the world

Would know,

How proud I am just to be

Even the smallest of all of

God’s creatures.

I composed this while sitting with my mother in hospital just a few hours before she died. I felt God’s presence so beautifully.
