Evaporative Cooling

The vans new radiator got a good workout today. The temperature reached 111 degrees! We still couldnt turn on the air conditioner, so we made our own with a spray bottle full of water. We cruised through the desert in style. Bessie, the van, was feeling great.

Mountain Road

We headed north for Utah and the unexplored territory there. This new ground was full of exciting landscapes, but it was still very hot. When the man at the Utah visitors center said that there was five feet of snow to the north at Cedar Breaks, we drove to get there as fast as we could.

Unfortunately, we didnt get very far. In the middle of a main street intersection in Cedar City, Utah, Bessie died. But, never fear! From out of nowhere, a rowdy bunch of locals descended on us and pushed the van to a side street in a whirlwind of energy. Jane asked them if there were any good mechanics in town. They glanced at each other and laughed, saying, Youre looking at em. Then they swarmed around the car, checked everything out and gunned the engine, decided that it must be the fuel filter, then decided that they would love to stay but had a party to go to. One man named Alan stayed with us and made sure that Eric came with the wrecker and towed us to safety. This ended our exploration for the day.
