Palo Duro Canyon State Park

We camped overnight at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Texas. In the morning the wild turkeys surprised us by walking right next to our tents. Palo Duro Canyon is biga preview of the Grand Canyon. We could see the earths strata in it, and Amy thought that the yellow, purple, and red colors looked just like what the kids at Patchwork drew with markers during their strata study. For the first time, We saw cactus growing, and Jane made friends with a pocket gopher whose burrow was almost under Amys tent.

We also stopped at the Caddillac Ranch, west of Amarillo, TX. We found many clues that a herd of cows had recently  visited the monument, too, and we only wished that we could have enjoyed it along side them. If the number of photos we took there is any indication, we were really impressed.
