Fate is often described as the natural force that is a part of every man and woman's future.
She is not a goddess, but she does help those who succeed, and she may comfort those who fail. The gods, whatever their nature, defer to Fate.
While she is not worshipped directly, her name is invoked to show her influence on the world.
For example, you will often hear the phrase: "We have no Fate, but the Fate that is given us." As anything that has happened, good or bad, is connected in some way to Fate, and it is pointless to dwell on what you can't change.
But as Fate is a natural force, what will happen isn't set in stone. She may be called upon, and may lend a hand to those in trouble or in need. This gives rise to the expression "May Fate smile upon you."
