Europe the 4th generation Honda Civic was introduced at the IAA in
Frankfurt Germany in September 1987. It was available as 3 door
hatchback, 4 door sedan, wagon (shuttle) and 3 door coupe (CRX). Rover
build their 200 and 400 series on the Civic base. Top model of the hatchback was the Japanese SiR with the 160hp B16A powerplant. In Europe The B16A was called 1.6i VT and 'only' had 150hp. Here in Holland between 1990 and 1991 only 40 Civic 1.6i VT's and 177 CRX VTEC's were imported. Although a lot of VTEC's were later imported from Germany, 150hp hatches are pretty rare around here. |
