The eyes of little children
As they sit upon your knee
Tell tall tales of wonder
And of dreams yet to be
I am reminded of so many things
As I look back across the years
But they are all happy thoughts
Not ones that bring me tears
I always looked forward to my visit
To your chair
And sometimes sat for hours
Just imagining you there
A little girl in a green lace dress
With bows in her long hair
Who smiles up at you in wonder
And is glad of words to share
I was never disappointed, there
Was always a surprise for me
And Christmas morn was blissful
With family and toys around the tree
I'm a grown woman now and have
My own child who visits, I see
In his eyes the wonder still
On Santa Claus' Knee
