Q. My colleagues and I are debating this question - is it proper to say, "I have fourteen years' experience at my current job," or "I have fourteen years experience at my current job"? I am curious to know the applicable rule of grammar. I thank you for your help!

A. In your sentence "years" is a possessive. (You could say "experience of fourteen years.") "I have fourteen years' experience at my current job," would be the proper form.
