The Reunion

After Terry and I were married, he was devastated by the loss of his job of almost 14 years.  After nearly a year of being unable to find a permanent job, his self esteem had fallen and he was beginning to show signs of depression.  I decided that if I could find his father for his birthday, it would cheer Terry up and get us all back on track again.  So, with my adult daughter's help, we began to search.  In no time at all, Tina was able to locate Terry's dad through the internet.  He was living way up in northeastern BC.  I called him and he was to happy to hear something.  He had been hoping for a phone call one day.

3 days after Terry's 48th birthday he spoke with his father for the first time in his life!  Within 6 months, Dad L. came to visit us.  We welcomed him into our home and hearts.  Since that time, Terry's dad has come for extended visits, and last year we went to visit him.  While we were there, Terry was able to meet his paternal grandmother, two aunts and some cousins!  He has some half-siblings, but they are scattered in the southern BC areas.  So far, they have expressed no interest in getting to know us, which is a sad shame.  Terry thrives on family, and desparately wants this family in his life. He just doesn't know how.  Once again, fear... "What will I say?" seems to be his most common statement.  I am hoping they will all meet at some point soon.

Terry's grandmother has since passed away. He (and I) feel so grateful and priveledged for having the opportunity to meet her before she died.  She was a lovely woman with a twinkle in her eyes.  She was 93 years old!

Forgotten Past
The story of a

the victim of abuse
Terry met his paternal grandmother for  the  first time (since he was a baby) in Sept., 2000.  She just kept staring at him with a smile  on her face as she would nod her head saying"Terry" softly to herself...We were fortunate enough to visit with her several times while we were there.  She lived to be 93 yrs. old.
