1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 bottle (8 oz,) Ortega thick & smooth taco sauce
3/4 c. water
1 can (4 oz.) Ortega diced green chilis
1 pkg. (1.25 oz.) Ortega taco seasoning mix
1 pkg. (12 count) Ortega yellow or white corn taco shells or taco chips, broken
2 c. shredded cheddar
~Preheat oven to 375 ~Grease 11 x 7 baking dish or roaster ~Cook beef and onion in lrg. frypan til browned, drain ~Stir in taco sauce, water, chilis & seasoning mix ~Bring to a boil ~Reduce heat, cook, stirring occasionally for 3 or 4 mins.
~Layer 1/2 the broken chips on bottom of prepared dish ~Cover with 1/2 the meat mixture, sprinkle wih 1 c. of the shredded cheese ~Repeat with remaining ingreds. ~Bake for 20 to 25 mins. til bubbly & cheese has melted.
Can garnish with: chopped tomoatoes, sliced green onions, sour cream.
The green chilis make this so good that you will probably make this casserole at least once a week.
