2 c. currants 2 c/ raisins 2 c. finely grated apples ( about 5 med. ) 1-1/2 c. chopped suet ( optional ) 1 c. mixed peel 1/2 t. allspice 1/2 t. nutmeg 2 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. cloves 1 c. Bright's 74 sherry 1 c. apricot nextar or apple juice 1-1/2 t. salt 1-1/2 c. brown sugar ( packed ) 1 T. grated orange rind 2 T. lemon juice Combine all in dutch oven. Simmer 10 mins. Makes 2 quart sealers ( liters ) Fills 24 tart shells - 3/4 full Or 2 - 9" pie shells |
