Bean Jar Stew
3 lbs. stewing beef
1 lrg. onion, coarsely chopped
1 can beef broth /or
2 cans consomme
1 can water
3 carrots, sliced
1/2 c. sliced celery
1/2 tsp. celery salt-optional
1/ tsp herb seasonings-optional
1/2 c. soup greens
3 tbsp. barley
salt & pepper to taste
1 handful of bread crumbs OR
2 T. tapioca 


~Put altogether in bean pot. Stir.

~Bake 7 hrs. in 300 oven.

No potatoes in this stew. So serve with mashed potatoes.

THIS CAN BE COOKING IN THE OVEN WHILE YOU'RE BUSY DOING OTHER THINGS. IT'S A GREAT SUPPER WITH YOUR HOMEMADE BREAD!
