FRIENDSHIP

Once when I was crying
My soul inside was dying
I wished the Lord would come and take me away

It was a friend who held me
And eased the pain inside me
And gave me strength to face another day

At times when I was bored
And feeling quite ignored
I wished I had someone I could talk to

Its a friend who I could call
The truest friend of all
Who would always know something to do

Those days when Ive had such fun
Laughing at jokes and puns
The way my smile reached to my soul

It was a friends joking with me
That made my laughter free
And made my heart feel whole

But that friend had different faces
And lived in different places
For Ive had many friends in my days

But whether it was a lover
A brother or my mother
Or just a friend who makes me smile

Through the joy and the sadness
The laughter and the madness
It was a friend who was there all the while

I look back through the years
All of my smiles and my tears
I see the friends who were there for me

My love for them goes deep
Sometimes I want to weep
For those friends I know Ill never see

But I want you to know
However far away you go
Im your friend and always will be

The truest sign of a true friend
Is not that they are there till the end
But that no matter how bad their mistake

You trust them and you love them
You can always forgive them
And for your forgiveness my heart will ache
