| Once again the Lions were one of the worst teams in the NFL. It is the same year in and year out. Every year they change the QB or fire the coach and such, but they still have not fixed what is wrong. The offensive line! They have let Harrington go and now have Kitna in his place. So many people love Kitna because he threw for 4000 yards. Yet he also threw 23 interceptions and only won two games! He is less acurate than Harrington, Batch or Mitchell ever was. Though he has a higher completion percentage, he has WR's who are wide open on most plays. Something Harrington rarely ever had. Even with wide open WR's, most of his completions have the WR's jumping up or reaching behind them. Kitna is no better than the lower end of average, but looks better due to Mike Martz' scheme. Yet even so, there were too many games where he threw interceptions in the fourth quarter in close games and blew a chance at a win. The Lions have a good offensive scheme now. If they would improve their offensive line play, their offense would be good enough to win more games. Their only other problem is defense. I believe a big problem their is Marinelli himself. Our defensive coordinator wants to be more agressive and blitz a lot more. Marinelli wants to rely on his four D-linemen. This gives the QB too much time and allows him to pick our defense apart. In todays NFL, it is imparitive to get pressure on the QB. |
