The Letter
by Myself
It all started with the letter, Which had the news she read. Floods of tears flowed swiftly then, Everything crumbling all away. No happiness now lay ahead. Sarah always thought it might just happen, With the husband she did adore. So much love she used to give, In the bed they had together. Until the letter came through the door. Two children they had together, Conceived with bliss and joy. Now alone to face the world, And all the harshness it contains. With a tiny girl and boy. The day began so very brightly, With the sun's warmth in the air. Until the letter fell loudly on the floor, Like a bell that warned of what's ahead. Bringing darkness everywhere. Sarah opened the tiny letter, Though she knew what was inside. Her tear-stained eyes read the words, And crushed like a lifeless flower. Just sat down and cried. What would be the future for Sarah, Without her husband's love? No one to share that bed at night, Or to hold throughout the years. She prayed for help above.. The years would go on for Sarah, With growing children to adore. But what she would always remember, Is one bright day especially. And the letter in her drawer.
