Footprints Four

I once had a friend,

Short days ago.

In innocence bliss,

The years flew by.

Sweet are memories,

Of a gone time.

If only the clock

Could stop. Pause. Halt.

Moments to cherish,

Would stay in hand.

Stead of flying through,

Our fingers stretched.

Why is this world so

Complicated?

Cant everyone see,

Youre Everywhere?

To me, you will be;

My eyes wide shut.

On the Path of Life,

We came to trial.

Of earth, air, water, flame,

The elements.

Depths of the spirit,

Strength of the heart.

Mightiest weapons,

To slay the foe.

Upon bent chips wished,

Recovery.

Your will of iron,

Will see you through.

Together we stand,

Through thick and thin.

And then came the call,

Final summons.

Once with you (my friend),

Now, sojourner.

To wander this path

Of life, alone.

Out from the darkness,

There came a light.

Flickering softly,

Never blinding.

To guide me ahead,

Into unknown.

Bearing this candle,

With a slight grin,

I know it is you,

Best friend of all.
