| Out of bands that do Gothic metal, Type O Negative rides at the peak of the pack. For a Gothic metal band they are very satirical. Bloody Kisses features its share of songs with twisted humor, such as Kill All the White People and We Hate Everyone. There is also a dirgy cover of Summer Breeze which they did a good job on. The songs which contain more of a Gothic nature are Christian Woman, Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All), Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family), and Too Late: Frozen. The first three of which all have some very good organ. Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All) opens up with a slow bass line, features harpsichord about halfway through, and it closes with a drum solo. The darkest track on the album is Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family), which opens up with funeral organ and has an extremely slow pace to it. It is a beautiful song and extremely sorrowful at the same time. For those who like dirgy, dark music, and don't mind a sense of humor in the lyrics, this is a great band to check out, and this album is one of their best. Grade: B | ||||||||||
