| This is Rammstein's first full length album and in my opinion, it is their best overall. The entire album is filled with guitar leads and keyboard leads. Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen Sehen? is an aural blitzkrieg with heavy guitars and a pulsating drum beat. From the first time one listens to this song, they will be singing the catchy part "Sex... ist ein Schlacht... Liebe... ist Krieg" over and over again. Der Meister has almost a Megadeth feel in the guitars and vocals with the way the song was written. A very good heavy metal song. Slowing down a bit, Seemann is a beautiful song, but it still has its heavy parts, and they are very heavy. Heirate Mich is probably the best song on the album. It opens up with the keyboard doing a chant sound, and monologue by Till. After which there is a drum beat and the bass comes in, highly synthed, then another beat and the guitars come in heavily. There is a lead towards the end that lasts for almost half a minute, which eventually goes into the ending. The ending of the song is another monologue part, which Till's voice is put through a processor. This is a very good album especially if you are into industrial metal. Grade: A- | |||||||||||||||||||

| Sehnsucht is Rammstein's second full-length release and their U.S. debut. It was a big hit in both Germany and the U.S., going platinum in both countries. Musically it kept the same electronic and pulsating drive as the first, but they cut out on the lead guitars and just focused on the keys doing the leads. The guitars are heavy and forceful, and remain the backbone of the album. Engel opens up with whistling which is soon followed by a heavily synthed bass line which is continued throughout the entire song. It is one of the more graceful songs, with female vocals for the bridge. One of the best guitar driven songs and one of the best vocally is Bestrafe Mich, which features a keyboard solo about halfway through and vocals with only quiet drums and keyboards follow before the guitars return. Till holds out the last word "Liebt" for about 15 seconds as the song comes to a close. The most famous Rammstein song, Du Hast, features probably the most driving beat. Klavier is composed in the same vein as Seemann from their previous album; slow, heavy, and pretty. The U.S. version of the album has their cover of Depeche Mode's Stripped, whereas the U.K. version has English versions of Engel and Du Hast. The translater messed Du Hast however by translating it to "You Hate" which is actually Du Hasst. "You have" is the proper translation. Grade: B+ | |||||||||||||||||||

| With their live show becoming so popular, so quick, Rammstein release a live album in 1999 and also a video. The video contains three songs which could not fit on the CD because of the length. Spiel Mit Mir takes about forty-five seconds before it truly starts, and in that time period the band is showing them on stage. The composition was altered a lot as the true intro does not come until three minutes into the song. All but one of the songs on here are off their two full length albums except for Wilder Wein. It is a pretty song with no drumming, but a programmed beat and no bass guitar. Christoph plays keyboards on this song and Oliver joins Richard and Paul on acoustic guitar. Their stage presence is very good and they throw some extra flavor into their songs while on stage, and if you can, get the video so you can actually see their show. It is a very good performance and the CD is just not able to catch the pyrotechnics and other visuals. Grade: B+ | |||||||||||||||||||

| Mutter is the long-awaited third studio album. By the first listen you can tell that these guys matured greatly in their musicianship and that they put a lot of time and effort into the album. It is done extremely well. The opening track, Mein Herz Brennt, opens up with quiet cellos and vocals that seem as though they are far off, as it builds up, drums come in and the vocals seem closer, then the rest of the instruments kick in and in that riff it sounds as though it is influenced from symphonic black metal. Links 2 3 4 opens up with marching and then an old school style metal riff comes into play. Throughout the song you occasionally here marching again and the timing seems to be 2/4. Spieluhr opens up with Till speaking, like he is telling a story and a music box fades in before the main instruments come in. The album closes with a slower paced song, Nebel. It is composed in the same style as Seemann and Klavier, so Rammstein sticks to having one slower, graceful, yet heavy song on each album of theirs. Grade: A- | |||||||||||||||||||
