| Gore, blood, guts, cannibalism, and necrophilia make up this second release by Exhumed. I picked up this album just because of the amount of guts and carnage laid on the outside of the CD alone. I could have cared less what these guys sounded like, as a matter of fact, their sound was just an extra bonus. As you can see, the cover features a broken mirror with guts splattered up against it. On the back is more guts on the mirror, and a picture of each member drinking blood out of a skull. The inside of the sleeve is a picture of the mirror a little further back so you can see more of the picture and more, you guessed it, blood and guts. Under the CD there is a close up of some guts around a drain and blood all around it. All throughout the album amongst the gore there is screaming lead guitar that cuts as clean as a scalpel. Most of the vocals are a higher pitched vocal, but he does some superb deep growls. Forged in Fire (Formed in Flame), This Axe was made to Grind, Dinnertime in the Morgue, Deep Red, Slaughtercult, and Funeral F*** are the most catchy and therefore, my favorite tracks of the album. The rating of the artwork is beyond a ten, but since I do not rate the artwork, that does not count. This is a really good album, and I recommend it if you like fast, blood driven metal. Grade: B+ | ||||||||||
