The Final Battle
This right here is the disc that for so long I have wanted, and now I am the proud owner of two of them. Meine Grafin, Alessandra, now has the one. Like most atmospheric black metal albums, this opens up with an instrumental. Preludium is a piece that focuses mainly on the beauty of the piano, but there are some drums and guitar to fulfill the harmony. Where Darkness Cannot Reach is dark beautiful opus glorifying God. The opening line is "Master we extol you, your name we are lifting high" and shortly after they proclaim "That our Almighty Lord - Jesus Christ is King." Cellos haunt through as the main instrument behind Pilgrim's gorgeous black vocals. This right here is a perfect example of Christian metal as worship. The most beautiful track on the disc is Symphony of Moonlight, an all piano instrumental. Alexander is amazing on piano, and his departure from the band is really heartbreaking when you look at how much he did for them. The glorifying song, Eternal Emperor, starts of with a dark and beautiful orchestral arrangement, with the violins being the main force and features some great "helicopter" drum work. The greatest line in this song is "But in the name of Jesus, Satan you have lost!" The Final Battle, my favorite track on the disc, starts off with more beautiful piano work by Alexander and more "helicopter" drums by Gustav. This is one of my favorite discs of all time, and because of the darkness, beauty and rarity, I am going to give it probably the highest grade of all my discs. Grade: A+
