| Every once in a while there is a band that comes out of nowhere, grabs you by the nose and kicks you in the seat of your pants. Well, for me, Avenger of Blood is one of those bands. Matthew Black basically took elements of Slayer, Testament, Death, and Sodom, melted them down and created an alloy. Thus, Avenger of Blood was formed. Ghostrider of the Apocalypse is an aural blitz with Slayer-ish style riffing and lead. Fallen Entity is a cross between Death and Slayer, and then made darker, great screaming guitar. The final track, Prophetic Destruction, goes full into the metal assault with no intro and early on has some screaming leads like it predecessors. This is a very good demo with great guitar work, very good gruff vocals, and apocalyptical lyrics. The demo consists of three actual songs and two 'filler' tracks, making up a twenty-five minute demo. Very good thrash, keep your ears ready for more from Avenger of Blood. Grade: B+ | ||||||||||
