| Aspera Hiems Symfonia is the debut album comprised from members of various other bands (i.e. Mayhem and Borknagar). The opening track, To Thou Who Dwellest in the Night, features organ and chorus work, similar to that of Cradle of Filth. Wintry Grey opens up with organ and fast drumming, along with clean vocals which come in again later on in the song. The Bodkin & the Quietus (...To Reach the Stars) is a mystical track, opening up with a spacey feel and keeping it in the background for the duration of the song. This is a good album, along the same lines of Cradle of Filth and early-mid Dimmu Borgir. Grade: B- | |||||||||
