Between 1984 and 1990 I was employed in the Physical Planning Department of Grampian Regional Council.  In 1990 I joined the Scottish Development Department to work on natural heritage issues.  I am currently employed as an Assistant Chief Planner in the Scottish Executive Development Department.  Between 2002 and 2004 I led the team which prepared Scotland's first National Planning Framework.  I am currently a member of a team of international experts advising on good practice in spatial planning and regional development in the Celtic and Baltic countries.
