Holiday to Bangkok & Phuket

April 19th to April 27th 2003

At Easter 2003 I was able to take the week off to go back to Thailand for the third time. Jean and I spent eight days together. We spent the first two nights in Bangkok then flew to Phuket before returning to Bangkok for the last two nights - a very costly procedure but worth every penny!

The following photographs were taken in Phuket and then back in Bangkok.
When we arrived in Phuket, we were met by a tour guide who took us to a number of sites on the way to our accommodation (the Duangjitt resort at Patong Beach). One of these places was a 'mountain' which had outstanding views over the island. This picture was taken by our guide.
On the first full day we took a boat trip to some of the neighbouring islands. Whilst there we successfully managed to lose some snorkeling equipment that we had borrowed!
And after a long day at sea, Jean was feeling a little hungry!
On the second day we were back at sea again, but not before a stop at one of the caves.
So here we are in our life jackets ready for a second day at sea!
And this was our final destination for the day - James Bond Island (it was used in one of the James Bond films). Jean felt right at home here. She often introduces herself as Jean Bond!
The happy couple is returning back to the Duangjitt Resort - by boat...
And it's a young boy who's driving us!!
The sun goes down on our third day in Phuket.

Jean had booked a package deal for us but our next planned event wasn't until the following evening. So for the next morning, we booked ourselves on a very eventful half day safari tour in Phuket.

First on the agenda was a half hour elephant trek. Neither of us ever thought we'd ride an elephant! Jean was very scared, but judge for yourselves. I think I'm trembling the most!!
We were also entertained by a monkey show... (Which one's the monkey?!?)
... and met with buffalo.
Jean preferred to keep her distance from Buffy!
An entertaining elephant show culminated in this photo. Jean's face reflects the fact that one of the elephants had just kissed her!!
Now off for a trip on the water of a different kind. We just couldn't get the hang of this!!
And were last to make it to the boat!
The safari finished with an old fashioned kind of ride for a couple of posers.
Followed by lunch at a beautiful location in Phuket.

We had a couple of hours to spare before the final scheduled event of our package holiday to Phuket. Jean had kept this a surprise for me, so I had no idea where we were going until I got there!

It was the Phuket Fantasea Theme Park - the best tourist attraction in Thailand.
As if I hadn't had enough of elephants for one day - I was wearing a T-shirt with an elephant on! And there were more elephants to come that evening. Here we are, just before we went into the show (that had the elephants)!
We were not allowed to take photographs of the show so just to prove we'd been there, we had to have a final shot before leaving.

The next day we flew back to Bangkok. We didn't do much in the afternoon but we still had a full day ahead of us on the Saturday.
Jean introduced me to one of her friends and his young daughter, Hana.
Hana is more of a poser than both of us. We reckon she'll be a singer when she grows up. All day she was dancing around and she seems to love having her photograph taken.
There she is again!
The sun goes down on my final night in Thailand (for a while!) - it was back to Perth for me the next day! Hana must have been asleep at this time - otherwise she would have been in another photograph!

That's all folks! More pictures WILL be added soon! Click here to return to our home page.
