Hey guys,

Heres a rundown of what happened at this weeks graduate exhibition meeting:

Exhibition Theme has been chosen !

Congratulations to Nick Carter and his ‘Follow The White Rabbit’ concept, which had the most votes for our graduate exhibition. His design received the most votes, and will now be further developed and implemented as our Graduate Exhibition Theme for 2002! Good work Nick.

Skye was the runner up with his awesome ‘Ogle’ - Lego idea, which was also really good!

Thanks again to everyone that presented or submitted ideas for the Graduate Exhibition, all of the ideas were really impressive, and have sparked some awesome feedback for both the designers individually, and the exhibition itself. We can take all of the best parts of each design, and any suggestions and other ideas, and put them into our 'Follow The White Rabbit' theme.

any suggestions? lemmi know..

Exhibition Major Sponsor – 'Cube 7'
We are proud to announce that local web design & digital media firm Cube 7 have joined us as one of our major sponsors for our exhibition!

Tracey, Mark Bryce, Dylan and I had a meeting with Andy Budiman and Rachael from Cube 7, to discuss their sponsorship and support for our exhibition.

They have offered a $500 cash prize to the student with the best online portfolio (website)
Runner up will receive vouchers for the Kings Park Sunset Cinema’s.

Also, Cube 7 have another surprise for one of the top students. This is still being discussed, so i'll keep you informed...
Cube 7 are an up and rising web design and digital media firm, based in Perth, who have been very successful, with a long list of impressive clients. Andy, the creative director, and Rachael are BOTH graduates of our college – WA school of Art, Design & Media.

We have also had huge interest from the City of Perth, regarding sponsorship of our exhibition. I will keep you all posted on this one, Tracey should be hearing from them soon.

Exhibition Display Booth Example Up Now!!
Neil, Skye and myself have set up an example of the Exhibition Display Booths in Room B244 (neil’s Illustration & Art Direction room – on ground floor near female toilets)

Go along and take a look – you should really start thinking about your portfolio’s and display setup’s now, or you will be rushing to finish it come exhibition time!

Each Display Stand has:
- two shelves (you can have 0, 1 or 2 shelves..)
- Down-lights (60w clear globes to light-up your exhibition display)
- You can fit an Apple 17” LCD screen on the shelves if you would like to have a multimedia slideshow running aswell. You will need to hide the cabling in the corner, and the tower underneath the desk.

I just want to make something clear. Each student WILL BE entitled to a Mac and LCD screen, for their exhibition display. We will be using the Mac’s from the Multimedia Lab (dual processors for multimedia students) and the Macs from the middle room ( for any other students that want one). The end room B254, will be left as is, for second year students to use.

Games Day – Version 2
We are currently planning another Network Games Day, to play games like quake & wolfenstein, and raise money for our exhibition.
The last games day was good fun, we blasted the crap out of eachother in wolfenstein, and had a good laugh. good stress releif from all of this work ! I'll keep u all posted..

Food catering for exhibition.
We are currently getting quotes from numerous catering services across perth. We should have this finalised in the next week or so. As soon as we get the quotes, I will post the food menu’s on the website, or email, so you can all have a look at what will be on offer, and let us know what u think. It will be a mix of typical party foods, including vegetarian stuff, so you vegetarians wont have to raid the gardens and shit. (sorry i had to throw that in :)

The second $50 installment of the $150 exhibition fee WAS due to be paid by each student by Friday August 16th.
