I may
chase many dreams through life,
I may
even catch one or two;
But
catching dreams won't be enough,
There's
something more that I must do:
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
Great
riches I may inherit,
To treasures
my pathway may lead;
But
money can't make me happy
There's
something more that I will need:
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
I may
be on top of the world,
Receiving
from all high acclaim,
But
praises will not satisfy,
Nor
will they my hearts' desire tame;
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
I may
cure some vexing disease,
I may
bring to many relief;
But
if that's my only great deed,
I'm
bound to end my life in grief;
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
I may
run like no other can,
But
even a three-minute mile
Could
not by itself bring me joy
Like
seeing my little girls smile.
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
If when
my days on earth are through
As from
my grave they walk away
I'll
be happy if both my girls
Are
proud of what I had to say
Only one thing will make me glad,
Just knowing they're proud of their dad.
