..........They Bound His Hands..........

Those wicked sinners bound the hands of my Lord,
He was handled so roughly -- with disrespect;
Had not Moses written in God's Holy Word
The Light of salvation you must not neglect!
But still they took Jesus, bound His precious hands,
And handed Him over to be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er dwelt in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

The soldiers of Rome drove the nails, it is true,
And they dropped the post in that hole in the ground;
But the sins of our lives make us guilty, too,
And excuse for our actions cannot be found.
They should have known better, still they bound His hands,
And there on Golgotha He was crucified;
The holiest One who e'er dwelt in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

He who will not listen to God's holy word,
Pursuing the pleasures and joys of this life,
Is guilty of binding the hands of the Lord,
And surely, like those before, shall come to strife.
For blindly they take Him, bind His precious hands,
In ignorance give Him to be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er lived in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

And then there are people who will not believe
The soul-saving gospel our Lord came to bring;
Like the Jews before, His truth they won't receive,
And, yes -- they're guilty of the very same thing!
In disbelief they bind the Lord's precious hands,
As infidels they bid Him be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er lived in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

And what of those people who will not repent,
Refusing to part with the old sinful deeds?
For their sins on Calvary His blood was spent:
Unless they change quickly He won't meet their needs.
Unrepentant they bind the Lord's precious hands,
And stubbornly bid Him to be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er dwelt in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

And then there's the man who His Name won't confess,
Preferring the praise that men may send his way;
But silence his true feelings still will profess:
When called to account, he has nothing to say…
Confessing not he binds the Lord's precious hands,
And silently gives Him to be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er dwelt in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

And what of the one who will not be baptized,
Refusing the water, like Naaman of old?
Someday, like old Naaman, he will realize:
If you want salvation, then do as you're told.
Those who won't be buried bind His precious hands,
Disobeying they bid Him be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er lived in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

And what of him who will not walk in the light,
Refusing steadfastly to live as he ought?
The Jews were God's children, but they were not right!
He needs to remember the things Jesus taught!
So carelessly he binds the Lord's precious hands,
And without thought gives Him to be crucified;
The holiest One who e'er dwelt in this land --
Forsaken by God and man -- for our sins died.

These few words of counsel, I offer, my friend,
For I, too, was guilty of binding His hands;
Come to Him today and prepare for life's end:
Get ready to live with Him in that fair land!
Though we were once guilty of binding His hands
And giving Him over to be crucified,
In mercy He bids us come, before Him stand:
And says, "I forgive you -- for your sins I died."
