Out on
the lawn there grows a weed,
To pluck
it out I saw the need,
But,
after all, it’s not my job to do…
I did
my part – pointing it out –
I saw
the need – there is no doubt,
Someone
should pull it, someone… maybe you?
Yes,
why don’t you go pull the weed?
You’ve
long been aware of the need!
Yes!
Indeed, friend, it is your job to do!
I’m
so glad I pointed it out,
It’s
your job, now, without a doubt,
You
do intend to do it, now, don’t you?
What?
Don’t tell me about the weed!
I am
the one who saw the need!
And,
after all, it’s not my job to do!
I now
regret pointing it out,
With
you I’m through without a doubt!
I’ve
never met a man as rude as you!
Moral:
If on
the lawn you see a weed,
To pluck
it out there is a need,
Just
pluck the weed – it is your job to do;
Anybody
can point it out,
This
rule we need, without a doubt:
You
must pluck the weed that is seen by you.

SPECIAL NOTE:
This poem deals with personal responsibility. Most of us (and everyone
else, for that matter) can identify something that needs doing, what we
need is someone to do what needs doing. Tim
