Strength

I’ve seen my share of troubles and trials,
Still faithfully I press along the way;
I see no use for foolish denials:
What He has spoken I’ll trust and obey.

Of freedom from harm there’s no guarantee,
For good men and bad men all come to die;
Just think of God’s Son and then you will see:
Our hope is in heaven – beyond the sky.

When things do not happen just as I please
I do not complain, nor grumble, nor moan;
Alone in my chamber, down on my knees
All troubles and trials there I’ll make known.

When I think that I can’t go any more,
And I feel my faith start to slip away,
I set my sights on that heavenly shore:
And I think of that great Homecoming Day!

There is much in this life that I hold dear,
For, you see, this life is all I have known;
And there’s much about death that I still fear
(Perhaps it’s because of the seeds I’ve sown.)

I’m only human – there’s much I can’t see,
I try to be faithful, loving and true;
He’s said there’s a mansion waiting for me!
Knowing that gives me strength to make it through.
