Enon News for Monday November 19, 2001!
Volume I Number 9
*******************************************************

Greetings!  Welcome to Monday...I hope yours is a good one.  Let's begin with the sick list as I carried it to the lectern yesterday.

Nursing Home Residents:  Mary Elmore, Alberta Roney, Red Ballard.

Sick List:  Jerri Bowens, Julie Bowens, Luneal Russell, Jack Gott, Winifred Capps, Mollie Phillips, Bertha Johnson, Ruby Carpenter, EThell Kilgore, Callie Kilgore, Amy Hutchinson, Jerry Gant, Angela Killingsworth, Nathan Suggs, John Henry Brown, Sherri (Willie Pearl William's daughter), Beverly Smith, David Summerlin, and many others.

We received a very nice card from Carrie Harrison, sister to Clarice Turk, for the cards that have been sent to their sister, Gladys Snellgrove.  She also sent along a $100 check to the church.

Our sympathy continues to be extended to George Blevins and family in the death of his sister, Thelma Greenwood, in an Arkansas Hospital last Tuesday evening.

My wife was out of town yesterday, in fact -- she is to be away all week.  Her dad, who has been sick of late, had a surprise birthday party thrown in his honor Saturday evening and she drove all day and was able to be with them -- none of them knew she was coming and it was a nice evening.

On to the summaries...

Adult Bible Class -- We had a "fair" crowd.  Wilburn Roney led the song -- # 445 Rock Of Ages – before class, and he also led the prayer.  The lesson was from Mark 3 and the discussion was lively and enjoyable and I think it was a very good class session!

Morning Worship -- Tim Smith made the announcements before worship, most of the information from which is given in this newsletter.  Coby Smith did his usual tremendous job leading singing!  Stan Smith led the first prayer.  I don't know if anyone noticed or not, but the Smith gang was well represented...  Glenn Russell headed the Lord's Table and was assisted by Lee Wolf, Blake Epperson and Tim Smith.  Gary Wolfe led the closing prayer.  The crowd was very good (given the sick and those out-of-town) and I believe the lesson was well received.  I preached on Daniel 5 -- Weighed in the Balances.  We put to the test several doctrines and "notions" and determined them to be false...  We noted that Belshazzar consulted his "Miss Cleo" before calling on the Gospel Preacher also -- pointing out that when his soothsayers failed to produce any results, unlike people calling Cleo, he didn't have to pay them...  Anyway, it was a very enjoyable morning.

Singing Class -- Tim Smith led the first song last evening, Sweet By And By.  Alex White, Chad White, Joel Wolfe, Rett Russell, Cody Russell, Glenn Russell, Jimmy Kilgore, Stan Smith, and perhaps others also led.  No one had to double up!

Evening Worship -- Before worship began Beverly Smith had to leave due to illness, and we certainly want to remember her and her family in our prayers.  Tim Smith made announcements, Alex White did a very good job leading singing, Jimmy Kilgore worded our first prayer, Glenn Russell served the Lord's Supper to those unable to be with us in the morning worship, and Rob Taylor led the closing prayer.  The sermon was on the biblical heart -- what is it, what are some of the problems we have with it, what are some false cures to those problems, and what is the true cure...???  Gary Wolfe responded to the invitation asking for prayers.  We appreciate Gary, Judy and the children very much!

Visitation Team 3 met following the worship last evening.  Ann Knight hosted the monthly meal in the annex also and as usual did a very good job!  On the whole it was a great day.

The TV Show -- SPEAKING WHERE THE BIBLE SPEAKS – is to air at 7:00 P.M. in the Ashford market this evening.  It deals with translations of the Bible, in fact, the 2-part series is to run this week and next.  They originally aired earlier this year.  I was told not to bill them as "repeats", but rather as "encore presentations" -- either way, they were on before.

Many are to be traveling this week, and others remain sick at home.  Let us remember them in prayer.  If you are to travel, please exercise caution.  Have a great week!  Tim Smith
