Way down in the valley of
sin I despaired,
To evil companions for help
I'd repaired;
I knew not where to turn,
or what to look for:
Sometimes it seemed foolish
to look anymore.
But
a ray of light appeared,
As
the Savior to me neared;
Precious
friend He was to me,
And
from sin He set me free!
Now I'm dwelling on the mountain
of His love,
Till I join Him in that mansion
up above.
I recall when my days were
spent here in sin,
I cared not for Jesus; I lived
to please men;
Fame and fortune were the
gods that my heart sought:
But troubles and trials were
all that I got.
Then
a ray of light appeared,
As
the Savior to me neared;
Precious
friend He was to me,
And
from sin He set me free!
Now I'm dwelling on the mountain
of His love,
Till I join Him in that mansion
up above.
Sin's emptiness I felt while
living each day,
Still, I lived in sin -- rejecting
Heaven's Way;
Life all seemed so useless,
"Why bother to try?
The same fate awaits us --
all men come to die."
Then
a ray of light appeared,
As
the Savior to me neared;
Precious
friend He was to me,
And
from sin He set me free!
Now I'm dwelling on the mountain
of His love,
Till I join Him in that mansion
up above.
Could it be, dear stranger,
that you're lost in sin?
What wait you for? Come!
And the new life begin!
On a hill far away Jesus died
for you:
If to all sinfulness you'll
now bid adieu
A
ray of light will appear,
To
you Jesus will draw near;
Though
now blind, then you will see
From
your sin He'll set you free!
Then you'll join me on the
mountain of His love,
And someday we'll live in
that mansion above.
