Dear Chugiak High School Parents,
For nearly 20 years now, the parents of the senior class have sponsored an all-night party the night of graduation. Approximately 400 students attend, including about 80% of the senior class and their guests. The 2004 Grad Blast Committee has been busily planning this year's event. Grad Blast is completely hosted by parents. Parent donations as well as donations from the Chugiak-Eagle River community provide a fun, safe and controlled environment for our children. This party is not sponsored by Chugiak High School or the Anchorage School District in any way. This means that each year, money must be raised and people must come forward to plan and host the party graduation night. This year graduation is Friday, May 28, 2004 at 2:00 pm
Grad Blast is after the graduation ceremony, from 9:00pm to 6:00am Saturday morning. This year, it is being held at Camp Carlquist, which is off the Mirror Lake Exit (from the Glenn Hwy). Students must purchase a ticket in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets will be sold in May. Grad Blast is for seniors; guests may be juniors but no older than 20.
To minimize wait time and expand activities, students will be bussed to Camp Carlquist. Shuttle busses will take students (and we hope volunteers) from the northeast Fred Meyer parking lot to Camp Carlquist. Students need to be at Fred Meyer no later than 11:00pm to get on the bus. There will be no admittance to the party after 11:00. Students may leave at any time, however there is no readmittance. Of course, we hope they stay for the entire night.
Throughout the night, door prizes will be given away. Only seniors are eligible to win prizes, and they must be present to win. There will be many fun activities (paddle boats, bungee run, paintball, climbing wall, sumo wrestling, mechanical salmon and more), music and lots of food.
Please don't ignore this request for volunteers, it may be the most important gift you can give your graduate; a safe, sober and memorable night. Please send donations to:
