The Night Shivers

The night shivers with anticipation
trees silhouetted against brilliance.
Flashes--bursting explosively,
the far away distance
rumbles with unease.
Pungent scent of discontent
thick, heavy on the air.
Fireflies, glowing softly green
weave between branches, settling
anxiously on overturned leaves.
The resonance of agitated
chirps and croaks, echoes nearby.
Closer the summer
storm approaches
thrumming, as a thousand feet
marching tirelessly
through the night.
Clouds reflect the strikes
from countless miles.
Lightening splits cool, damp air
bringing  drama to close.
A sudden stillness, a hesitation
(as if, time held it's breath)
enfolds the natural world.
CRACK and BOOM combine
their deafening energies.
Fiercly blowing
wind and rain,
Hissing, shwushing
rushing by,
quickly slows to drizzle.
In that lull,
moon-shard slices
through blackest thunderhead,
it's irridescent light, touching
on my desire.
Pulsing flowing rhythm, brings
us close to gather, into
one another's arms.
Bodies shiver with anticipation,
my fingertips brush
your brow, lips meet
sighs exchange,
Two as one, silhouetted
against night sky.
