Perfect Moment

That one brilliant, perfect moment
when the sun shines through newly unfurled leaves
on a warm Spring morning.

Green glow of newness  blankets the forest.
Trees and flowers have struggled through bitter cold of Winter;
Blossoms hang heavily from bowed branches to the warm Earth.

It seems, at that moment that THIS--
is what EDEN must have looked like
the first time that Adam walked with Eve.

Gentle mist softly kissing flushed cheeks
dew, cool and inviting, beneath tender feet
blades of grass tickling between toes.

They walked, looking over the new world together
hands entwined, smiling with a child's innocence
at the gifts which he had laid out before them.

Perfection, a brief moment
before knowledge was chosen
over Faith and Love.

All of this--filling my senses--a heartbeat
as I stand overlooking that ONE
brilliantly perfect moment.
