When choosing food for your betta, it is a good idea to have different choices on hand. Bettas can be picky eaters. For instance, before I got into bettas, my mom had a few, and said that they would eat the Betta Bites and I've found that they also eat bloodworms, but they didn't seem to like the Wardley betta food too much. So it may take a few foods before you know what your betta likes to eat.
As for feeding, the betta should be fed just a pinch of food once per day, unless they are being conditioned, in that case 2-3 times a day is good. A betta should eat every day 6 days a week. It is good to skip feeding for a day just to let things move through. It is important to only give a pinch of food at a time. A betta's stomach is not very big, and too much food can cause Swim Bladder Disorder, in which the fish will become boyant and float on his/her side or back. |
