Below are a few of the memories of Grace that our friends and family contributed.

I remember Gracie

...sitting down quietly in front of our stereo to listen when the soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast was playing...

...enjoying the BIG balloons at Druid Hill Park, when she had complained upon getting into the car that she didn't want to see them.

...at the hospital after she refused to acknowledge my presence and clearly wanted to go home, smiling at a picture of Chris with Kathryn on his shoulders at Aunt Cheerful's wedding reception and in response to my saying, "who's that?" saying, "That's Knucklehead!" and looking up at me with a smile ("Knucklehead?!" I said) "We call Uncle Chris knucklehead."

...wandering around Grandma Betty's house with her warm foot pajama one winter evening happy in her own world, with Chris calling her a Yoda or a munchkin.

...standing in her hospital bed with a white bandaged head just a couple of hours after her 1st brain surgery.

...screaming, "This is fun! Kathryn, are you having fun? [Yes, Grace] We're having fun!" as I pushed them fast in a zoo double stroller on Grace's 3rd birthday...

How appropriate Grace's choice of Halloween costume for October '97 school activities [Hercules]. There she was fully garbed as the god of strength, firmly planted legs crossed, on the grass outside of Hillcrest Elementary. Grace made it clear that she had no intention of heeding her mother's suggestion that they should relocate to a spot further down the path. I was struck by Grace's determination to stay right where she was, regardless of whether or not her mother was in sight.
