Washu (in the tv series "Tenchi in the Universe" ) was a professor at the Galactic Academy, exiled 700 yrs previously because of the dangerous experiments she had made. She was imprisoned in a cave on Earth until Ryouko came and freed her. In the second series "Tenchi in Tokyo" , she portrays the role of the scientist who is Ryouko's accomplice into stealing a precious artifact in Jurai.

In the OAV series, she appeared as Ryouko's creator and also of Ryo-ohki ans Doja
( Kagato's ship). Although much is in conflict of Washu's role both in the tv series and in the
OAV series, one thing is certain, she is the most brilliant scientist in the whole galaxy considering that her laboratory is as bis as five planets when combined!
