Sympathetic - an action which represents what you want happen, for example planting a blessed seed and as it grows wishing for an increase in happiness
Contagious - absorbing power directly from another thing, for example wearing an animal skin on a hunt
Attracting - a mixture of sympathetic and contagious magick to bring about a desired effect
Banishing & protective - driving away negative influences

Under these magick can be split further to include:
Personal - magick for yourself
For others - magick for friends/acquantainces

In a different source I found magick grouped in the following ways:
Candle - using coloured candles to represent the four elements
Sympathetic - same as above
Representational - using a belonging to represent a person, i.e. voodoo

Knot/Binding - using rope, string, ribbons to bind a person from doing harm
Moon - using the phases and power of the moon
Elemental - using either one element for desired effect or all together for more energy
And in another source I found three main catogories:

Sympathetic - (folk) old remedies, voodoo dolls, symbolism
Ceremonial - powerful/dangerous magick, spells and rituals followed rigidly
